A regular denture is a removable prosthesis that is used when a person is missing all upper teeth, all lower teeth, or both following extractions. After extractions, it is best to wait at least 2 months for healing time before having impressions taken for a denture to be made. Dentures can be made in all shapes and shades. These are used to restore your smile and to allow you to eat and maintain good nutrition. Dr. Roberts and staff will work with you to ensure that you get the most natural looking smile. A smile you are proud to show off!
After healing time, the process begins by taking impressions, and then try-ins where Dr. Roberts will make sure everything is fitting just right. Finally, your denture will be processed to completion and delivered to you in our office. We will make adjustments to the denture to relieve any spots that may potentially cause irritation. We will continue making adjustments periodically to ensure a good fit.
An Immediate denture is a denture that is placed on the same day the extractions are done. This means you will never have to go without teeth. The impressions for this denture will be taken while the natural teeth are still in the mouth. Due to there being no try-in appointments you and Dr. Roberts will discuss shade and shape of teeth. In about two weeks when the denture is made Dr. Roberts will see you for extractions and placement of your denture. The denture acts as a bandage to protect the tissues and you will return to the office 24 hours later to have it removed so Dr. Roberts can evaluate fit and make any adjustments that may be needed. There will be some discomfort for a few days following the procedure but soon you will be smiling and eating and no one ever has to know you’ve had the procedure done.
